The History of Dean Sellers Ford… 

   January 14, 1948 Dean Sellers, Inc. was founded by Dean L. Sellers (1906-1996).   Dean was born in Ohio and as a young adult came to Detroit in search of the automobile industry where he started his career with Chevrolet.  He moved to the Ford Motor Company with Henry Ford and the era of the Whiz Kids and headed up the Ford Ferguson Tractor Division.  What he really wanted was a Ford Dealership, so in 1948 he opened Dean Sellers, Inc. at 16700 Grand River, in Detroit.  In the early '70's Dean retired and turned the business over to his eldest son, Tom.  As the Detroit climate changed, Tom spent the latter of the 1970's in search of a new location for Dean Sellers Ford.  In June of 1980, Tom struck a deal with Ford Dealer, Richard Turner, and took over the point at 2600 W. Maple Road in the Troy Motor Mall, its current location for over 37 years. Tom's three children are in the business all working at the Troy location: Blair, Dean and Liz, who now collectively have over 85 years of experience in the automobile retailing business.

     When people think of Dean Sellers, often words like tradition, longevity, history, loyalty, and family are spoken.  Not only can the dealership tout longevity, but many of the Sellers employees have been with the family for decades.  Currently on staff is Parts Manager, Chuck Barr, who started at the original Grand River location in 1976.  Seasoned Sales Consultants, Jim Bogdanski with 34 years and Jerry Cox selling for over 32 years with the Sellers. Employees with over 20 years at the dealership are:  Dave Erickson (Parts Counter), Steve Fulcher (Service Technician), Chris Griffin (Body Shop Painter), Clive Hibburt (Service Advisor), Christie Parker (Sales Manager), Dan Paul (Sales Manager), Andrea Pawelkowski (Sales Consultant), Denise Pins (Office Administration), and Dwight Ruff (New Vehicle Support Staff).
